EUCANET sustains active citizenship, enlarging civic involvement and commitment to the decision-making processes. Inspired by the Pact of Amsterdam for EU Urban Agenda, EUCANET explores how the urban political process can contribute to tighten the connection between the local and EU level, reframing the interaction between Urban Authorities (UA), local communities, civil society, business and knowledge institutions.

Many UA in EU support organizations, defined in the project as City Agencies (CA play a connection role within the  spatial policies, Involving the  citizens, facilitating their understanding and participation in the urban urban planning and decision-making process.

EUCANET aims to explore how CA can be tools to raise the standard of citizens' inclusion, civic involvement, local communities empowerment, co-creation of urban commons, sharing theoretical, practical and operational knowledge, to offer the Pact of Amsterdam a Thematic Partnership proposal for a more effective and democratic implementation of the EU Urban Agenda.

Meetings will be occasions to transfer usable knowledge, operational models and methods,   to help involved parties experiment and develop innovative actions in their hometowns. Each partners meeting is focused on a locally relevant Hot Topic, to maximize the direct and indirect participation of institutional partners and stakeholders, policy&decision makers, civic organizations, NGOs, city-makers and citizens of different ages, lifestyles, education and level of commitment. EUCANET meetings will be inflected through the following activities: Thematic Seminars, Policy Workshops, Conferences.
